ABOUT
Design vision - Planning the work - Managing the project - Sourcing materials - Finishing touches
In any home refurbishment the design vision at the start of the project enables you to get all of the elements right at the end; layout, lighting and special features are hard to put right later on and will cost more to rectify. When designing interiors I aim to catch the essence of the client's personality so as not to end up with a generic off-the-shelf look. Using existing pieces of furniture or a painting can inspire a new decoration scheme to make a unique scheme for your home.
Projects can be single room make-overs such as a kitchen, bathroom, or living space, but I also work from the planning stage for house extensions where services, electrics and plumbing need to be carefully planned before work starts. By visiting clients on site I am able to get an understanding of your style, the practical requirements of any space and the scope of the project. The next stage is to produce mood or ideas boards and 3D room designs to visualise the finished design. I use a CAD program that produces photographic quality images of your project and even an interactive walk-through so that you have clear visuals you are happy with before work starts. If required I can then pull together samples of colour, fabric, tiles etc. Sourcing fittings and furniture to your style and budget completes the finish for your home.
I have a design degree from the University of Brighton and worked for many years as a Fashion Buyer. I now utilise many of the skills I developed - putting ranges together, display, sourcing product and dealing with manufacturers - in my interior design and project management work. Home refurbishment involving an extension or any structural work is time consuming, stressful and very often issues arise that require experience to find the right solution. In the role of Project Manager I obtain build quotes from your architectural plans, schedule works with the builder and liaise with all trades onsite so that the project goes ahead smoothly.
